Solo Project

Gameplay Trailer

Game Description

The game splits the controller down the middle, intending to represent the split in your attention when multi-tasking. The left analog and trigger control the micro-games on the TV, while the right analog and trigger control the player attempting to complete chores.

Failing to complete micro-games results in a drop in player speed, which represents the drop in dopamine. Failing to complete chores in time results in a loss of health, and eventually a game over.

With only a month to create the game, I was only able to create 2 micro-games, and left most of the game unpolished. Several more micro-games were designed, which I plan to add in the future

The Premise

As someone with ADHD, it’s difficult at times to keep my attention on one thing at a time. To circumvent this, I used to throw YouTube up on a second monitor to keep part of my brain occupied. This works well in moderation, but I found it could result in an over reliance on dopamine if left unchecked.

I wanted to challenge myself to create a solo project in a month, and wanted to express this experience through game mechanics.
